Overall, a friend noticed this almost immediately the first time she came over during everyday use. I like how it defines the spot underneath without making the room feel smaller. The room feels better without looking overly decorated. I can see us keeping it for a long time.

Compared with the old setup, the room feels especially nice with this on in the evening in person.

With the area finished, this was the missing piece over the dining table once everything else was in place. It gives the area enough presence without making the ceiling feel busy. The effect is noticeable without being dramatic. I am glad we went with it.
