The hallway feels more personal because the wall light adds detail without asking the rest of the room to get louder. What surprised me in regular use is that the room feels comfortable rather than staged. The travertine is a nice detail, especially because the overall design still feels balanced.

Without changing the furniture, the hallway feels more intentional from more than one angle. With the room kept fairly simple, the wall light stands out without making everything else compete. I thought the design might ask too much of the room, but the scale of the idea feels right once it is part of the whole room. I had to get used to seeing one stronger detail in the room, but the overall effect works for me.
