The longer this has been in the reading corner, the more I appreciate that I enjoy it most when the room is being used normally. In softer evening light, the room feels more lived-in and relaxed. This went in just before family came to stay, and the reading corner finally felt ready.

For this room, the living room feels finished but still relaxed. When I am not thinking about the design at all, I still notice that the floor lamp has become part of the routine rather than a special feature. I chose this during the last stretch of a room refresh, and it gave the living room a clear finishing point. In the hours when we use the room most, the room feels warmer in mood, not busier.

As the room shifts into evening, the living room has a nicer rhythm. What changed most is that the floor lamp feels connected to the room rather than added on. I keep coming back to the fact that the floor lamp has become part of the routine rather than a special feature.
