What keeps it from feeling too much is that the table lamp feels intentional without looking overly styled.

With the room viewed as one composition, the table lamp feels connected to the room rather than added on.

What matters to me day to day is that the bedroom is nicer to spend time in without feeling newly decorated. When the rest of the house gets quiet, the bedroom has a nicer rhythm. From a styling point of view, the table lamp gives the room contrast without feeling trendy. After seeing the whole setup together, the room has a stronger visual center. I would not have guessed from the photos that the scale of the idea feels right once it is part of the whole room.
