The design works for me because the ceiling light gives the room contrast without feeling trendy. From the hall, the whole layout feels calmer with one clear point of interest.

Later at night, the room feels less flat. With the styling pared back, the room can stay simple while the ceiling light carries enough character on its own. What changed most is that the ceiling light gives the room structure without dominating it.
