What keeps it from feeling too much is that the wall light adds a point of view without taking over the room.

The room did not need more furniture; it needed one detail, and now the wall light feels connected to the room rather than added on. Toward the end of the day, the room feels easier to settle into. I was careful not to over-style the room, and the wall light adds interest without turning the space into a theme. The wall light does its job without making the room feel arranged around a fixture. As the living room becomes part of the day, the wall light feels familiar in the room surprisingly quickly.

I would not have guessed from the photos that the room handles the design better than I thought it would. When the rest of the house gets quiet, the hallway has a nicer rhythm. Once it was in place, the room looks more resolved without feeling fuller.
