There is a little more warmth in the console now, even though the change itself is simple. What works for me is that the room feels layered rather than styled. I stopped thinking about whether it was the right choice once it became part of the room. It brings a little contrast to the console while still feeling easy to live with.

The piece asks for more breathing room than I expected, and I would still choose it again.
