The photos had me curious, but the real surprise is that the ceiling light made a bigger difference to the entry than I expected. When the day slows down, the room feels less flat. On an ordinary morning, the room still works the same way, it just feels more pleasant. Late in the day, the home office feels softer without losing definition. With the room viewed as one composition, the ceiling light feels connected to the room rather than added on. With everything else left alone, the upstairs landing has a clearer focal point without feeling busy. I keep coming back to the fact that the ceiling light fits naturally into the way the upstairs landing functions.
