The Herman is a ribbed opal glass table lamp with a warm, mid-century mushroom silhouette — a fluted glass dome in brass-tone trim, set on a tapered walnut-tone wood column and a wide brass-tone base. Later at night, the reading corner feels more inviting. With the other pieces doing less, the room feels layered rather than decorated.

Standing back from it, the guest room has more definition without losing its simplicity. My partner was unsure at first, but now agrees the guest room feels better with it. The practical side of living with it is that the room feels comfortable rather than staged. This went in just before family came to stay, and the guest room finally felt ready. I chose this instead of a more generic option, and the table lamp feels much more natural in the room than it did on screen.
