The nighttime difference is that the sofa corner feels softer without losing definition. The design feels considered without making daily use of the sofa corner any more complicated. The choice felt less obvious online; now the floor lamp feels much more natural in the room than it did on screen. I picked this while wrapping up a renovation, and it made the room feel complete rather than newly finished.

With everything else left alone, the reading corner feels more intentional from more than one angle. The room still feels like us because the floor lamp adds a point of view without taking over the room.
