I wanted one design choice with a little character, and the wall light adds detail without asking the rest of the room to get louder. I thought the design might ask too much of the room, but the room handles the design better than I thought it would. I like that the whole layout feels calmer with one clear point of interest. Even before bedtime, the reading corner feels softer without losing definition.

It is a little more of a focal point than I originally planned, and I am glad I did not switch to the safer option.

The design feels considered without making daily use of the stair landing any more complicated. I stopped overthinking the choice once I realized that the wall light fits naturally into the way the stair landing functions.
