Slender black travertine column with a walnut accent

A wall lamp cut as a single 1-inch travertine rod and mounted on a solid walnut block. The integrated LED runs the full height and washes a soft, elongated glow along the wall rather than a bright spot. Two heights, 21.7″ and 35.4″, both the same slim diameter. Hardwired and controlled from your wall switch.

I thought I might need to redesign around it, but the wall light feels less risky and more like the obvious choice. For this room, the room has a stronger visual center.

As the room shifts into evening, the room feels less flat. From the hall, the entry feels more balanced than it did before. As part of our normal routine, the piece feels useful and visually settled at the same time. I am glad I gave the room one stronger detail instead of several smaller ones.

My partner now says this is the detail that makes the room feel finished. Even before bedtime, the stair landing feels more inviting. At a glance, the wall light feels connected to the room rather than added on.
