The table lamp changed the balance of the living room more than I anticipated, so I pared back a few nearby details and that helped.

This table lamp asks for a little more breathing room in the corner than I expected, but the final balance works.

With the corner otherwise left alone, the new addition works with what we already owned surprisingly well, and that matters more to me than any single detail. I worried it might feel too noticeable, but in the room it looks much more balanced than I expected. It changed the mood of the room without forcing me to change the furniture around it. It feels like part of the room rather than an add-on.
