In the bedside, the new addition has been easy to live with. The mushroom shape is distinctive, but the overall piece still feels easy to live with.

With the bedside otherwise left alone, this choice looks considered without feeling staged, and that matters more to me than any single detail. It has enough character to be noticed, but it still works with everything else. I like having this on at night even when the rest of the room is fairly quiet. I like the mushroom shape more in person because it reads as a quiet design choice rather than a gimmick.

With the guest room otherwise left alone, this choice feels much more natural than I expected, even on completely ordinary days. It made the guest room feel designed without making it feel staged. I notice the difference most when the rest of the room is quiet and the light is on. That balance was exactly what I was hoping for.
