With the kitchen otherwise left alone, this choice feels much more natural than I expected, and that matters more to me than any single detail. It feels natural in the room now rather than like something we just added. It feels intentional without needing a lot of explanation. It changed the mood of the room without forcing me to change the furniture around it.

For the room, the pendant turned out to be exactly enough of an update, without asking for much else. It gives the room a nicer evening rhythm without drawing too much attention to itself.

With the bigger pieces staying exactly where they were, this choice works with what we already owned surprisingly well, without asking for much else.
