For a home that is not overly formal, the overall design works with what we already owned surprisingly well, and that matters more to me than any single detail. With the reading area otherwise left alone, the new addition looks considered without feeling staged, and that matters more to me than any single detail.

In this part of the house, the wall light has settled into the space very quickly. The travertine is nice up close, but what matters more to me is how the whole piece works in the room. It gives the space a little more identity without changing everything else. My partner and I have different taste, and this somehow works for both of us.
