It adds enough visual interest without turning the bedside into a showroom. That balance was exactly what I was hoping for. The room has a better sense of warmth at night now, without feeling heavy.

Nothing else in the desk area had to change for this to make a real difference.

I kept the rest of the desk area almost the same, and this still changed the balance. I have not felt the urge to keep adjusting the rest of the room around it. It changed the mood of the room without forcing me to change the furniture around it. I like having this on at night even when the rest of the room is fairly quiet.
