A small oak mushroom on the wall — the Seren.

The Seren pairs a turned oak body with a white dome shade. The wood brings natural grain and warmth; the shade diffuses the bulb into a soft, even glow. At ∅ 7.9″ × H 11″ it sits easily above a nightstand, beside a mirror or along a hallway, in bedrooms, living rooms and offices alike.

Natural oak — the "Dark Oak" finish reads warm reddish brown

The body is solid oak with a dark oak colour finish. In person it reads as a warm reddish brown, as in the photos, and the grain varies from piece to piece — a natural characteristic of wood, not a defect.

I do like the wood detail up close, but what matters more is how naturally the whole wall light works in the room, which is the part I notice most in everyday use. I wanted something we could live with every day, and this has been exactly that. The design has enough presence to be noticed without becoming the only thing you see. I have no urge to replace it with something else, which says a lot.

The design makes sense in our powder room because it adds structure without making the space feel stiff. I thought this might be one of those pieces I liked more online than at home, but the opposite happened. I like that it adds interest without forcing the rest of the room into the same style. It stands out a little more than I expected, but that ended up being a positive once the room came together. It ended up being one of the better decisions in the room.

I needed a day or two to get used to it in the room, but it has grown on me, which gives the room enough change without overdoing it. I wanted something we could live with every day, and this has been exactly that.
