The nicest surprise has been how little I needed to change around this wall light; I appreciate that it does not take over. My main concern was whether it would still feel right after the newness wore off, and so far it does. I noticed the brass more once it was in the room, but the overall balance is what I ended up appreciating most. This was easier to blend into the room than I expected. I would choose it again for the same room.
