About the black travertine — genuine natural stone with a matte black surface finish

The shade of this pendant is made from genuine travertine stone. To create a deep, even black aesthetic, the stone surface is finished with a matte black coating — rather than left in its natural off-white state. This is an intentional design choice: the weight, density, and natural pore structure of genuine travertine are preserved, while the surface colour is controlled. The entire stone presents a consistent matte black — this is exactly as it was designed to be.

Natural travertine — formed by geological processes

Travertine is formed in the natural environment through thousands of years of complex physical and chemical processes. Even beneath the black surface, the pore distribution and stone characteristics of each piece remain entirely unique.

The design reads clearly, but it does not overpower the furniture around it, which is why I am still happy with it. It has held my attention without feeling like something I will get tired of quickly. The room feels easier on the eyes in the evening, and I like that the effect is subtle.

The proportions feel visually balanced with the rest of the room, which was one of my biggest concerns, and the rest of the room still gets to breathe. It pulled the home office together in a way that feels natural rather than styled for a photo. It has a little more visual presence than I pictured, so I simplified the area around it, but I like the result.
